South Dakota will be sending another unit of the states finest Army National Guard soldiers overseas in the future.

Thirty-nine soldiers from the Sioux Falls based 196th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade received notification regarding a possible deployment to Kuwait in February.

This comes after the news last month, that a Rapid City-based unit has also been scheduled for deployment in August.

The Army National Guard members from Sioux Falls will once again be participating in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. This is the second time the 196th unit has been deployed. The unit also served in Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in 2010-2011.

Their primary responsibility this time will be to conduct force protection and security operations.

The Sioux Falls based unit will report to Fort Bliss, Texas, for several weeks of training before being deployed overseas.

These brave soldiers and their families, deserve our sincere gratitude and support as they continue to defend our freedom and help keep our country safe.

Please know you'll be in our prayers. Godspeed on your journey. Return home safely!
