SIOUX FALLS, SD -- The Sioux Falls Stampede return to the ice this weekend.

The Stampede are one of six United States Hockey League teams participating in the USHL Atlantic Challenge in Hackensack, N.J.  It is the league's first-ever showcase on the east coast.

Sioux Falls opens Atlantic Challenge play Friday when they take on the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders at 7:00pm CT.  The Herd plays the Youngstown Phantoms Saturday morning at 11:30am CT and the Muskegon Lumberjacks Sunday at 10:00am CT.

The Stampede continue preseason play in the USHL Fall Classic West in Sioux City September 11 and 12 with games against the Musketeers and Omaha Lancers.

Sioux Falls opened training camp on Tuesday with 27 players on the preseason roster.  Fourteen players return from last season's Western Conference championship team, including four of the Stampede's top five scorers.

The Herd open the regular season on the road September 21 in Des Moines against the Buccaneers.  The Stampede home opener is October 4 against the Omaha Lancers at the Sioux Falls Arena.
