It’s going to be a big year for Star Trek. Not only is the beloved sci-fi series returning to television (or the streaming TV equivalent), and not only is Trek celebrating its 50th anniversary with special conventions and events, but there’s also the third installment of the new Star Trek movie series, Star Trek Beyond, which comes to theaters later this summer. Apparently, though, what exactly STB will look like is still being finalized.

Deadline reports that the movie, which is directed by longtime Fast & Furious filmmaker Justin Lin, has gone into reshoots, and added a new member to the cast. That would be Shohreh Aghdashloo, the Iranian American actress who received an Oscar nomination for House of Sand and Fog. Per Deadline, Aghdashloo will play “the role of the High Command of the Federation,” surely a key one in the film, knowing the sort of trouble Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk and Zachary Quinto’s Mr. Spock tend to get into in these new Trek films. The first movie’s Starfleet figurehead was Tyler Perry; in Star Trek Into Darkness it was RoboCop himself, Peter Weller. So Aghdashloo’s already in very fine company.

There’s no details on the nature of the reshoots themselves, but at this point they’re not necessarily reason for concern, and Deadline also notes that Paramount currently has no plans to shift the movie’s release date from its original home on July 22. (I’m not sure what that translates to in stardates.)
