SIOUX FALLS - Leaders of an organization of state employees are pushing for improvements in their dental plan and more timely information on their health insurance plan.

Leaders of the South Dakota State Employees Organization met Saturday in Sioux Falls.

The Argus Leader reports that delegates representing the group's 24 chapters around the state backed a resolution to broaden the state employees' dental plan to include more providers. They say some employees are unable to take advantage of the dental benefit without driving considerable distances because there are no network members in either Rapid City or Brookings.

The group also wants more frequent updates on changes in health insurance.

Executive Director Eric Ollila urged members to recruit more state employees into the organization. He says membership has declined to fewer than 1,000.
