Here's your chance to find out if you have some unclaimed property out there.

This Saturday and Sunday, October 3-4, the South Dakota Treasurer's office will have a booth set up during the Benson's Flea Market at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds Expo Building.

The purpose of the booth is to expand the outreach efforts of the state's unclaimed property program.

Unclaimed property refers to accounts in financial institutions, businesses and government agencies that have had no activity for three years or longer.

There are more than $280 million in unclaimed funds at this time that the state holds in a custodial capacity until the money can be returned to the rightful owners.

State Treasurer Rich Sattgasts encourages people attending the market to stop by the booth to ensure they are not missing money.

Who knows, maybe you'll find out that you're getting an early Christmas present? Or a little extra cash to help pay for Christmas. Now you're talking!
