Emergency crews were called to assist with a mishap that led to a serious but not life-threatening injury on Monday.

Sgt. Robert Forster of Sioux Falls Police issued a statement regarding the incident that is still under investigation.

On 6/6/2016 Sioux Falls Police responded to a construction site on the Sanford Health campus near W. 22ndStreet and S. Grange Avenue. Along with Sioux Falls Fire Rescue and paramedics from Paramedics Plus officers assisted with an accident that occurred on the steel beams of the structure.

A 33 year old male was struck with a steel beam that broke loose from a crane while he and another worker were guiding the beam into place. The victim was assisted to the ground by his co-workers and transported to a local hospital for care.

The victim’s name was not released.
