Styx formed in Chicago in the early 1970’s, but it wasn’t until 1974 when they scored their first Top-10 hit with “Lady”. It would be a few more years before they broke into the Top-10 again with 1977’s “Grand Illusion”. Most of the band’s following releases throughout the late 70’s earned at least platinum certification (1976’s “Crystal Ball,” 1977’s “Grand Illusion,” 1978’s “Pieces of Eight,” and 1979’s “Cornerstone”) and produced hit singles and classic rock standards such as “Come Sail Away,” “Renegade,” “Blue Collar Man,” “Fooling Yourself,” and the monster ballad, “Babe”.

Styx broke up in 1983, and later reunited in the 1990’s. After more than a decade together, the six men comprising STYX, Guitarist-James Young, Guitarist-Tommy Shaw, Bassist-Chuck Panozso, Drummer-Todd Sucherman, Keyboard/Vocalist-Lawrence Gowan and bassist/vocalist-Ricky Phillips are entering their second decade of averaging over 100 shows a year.

Kicking off the 4-day event will be Judd Hoos on Thursday night on the Freedom Stage.
