One of the toughest mid-major conferences in college basketball is living up to its billing so far this season, as four teams share the lead nearing the midway point of the 2016 Summit League women's basketball schedule.

South Dakota State (14-4/4-1) was the lone unbeaten in the conference before losing at home to South Dakota last Sunday.

The Jackrabbits try to regroup against the number one defense in the Summit League Thursday night, IUPUI.

The Jaguars (13-5/4-1) have allowed the fewest points per game (53) in the first three weeks of conference action. SDSU's offense scores better than 68 a game, third best in the Summit.

IUPUI has been without pre-season all-conference forward Akilah Sims for the last two games. Mikale Rogers has more than picked up the slack, scoring 45 points in the last two, hitting an impressive 63 percent from the floor.

Tipoff is 7:00 PM, Thursday night in Brookings.

Week four ends with a home date against a Western Illinois team that brings a balanced offensive attack to Frost Arena.

The Leathernecks (10-8/3-2) boast two of the top ten scorers in the Summit League, Michelle Maher and Emily Clemens, who average 29 points a game between them. Two other WIU players, Sophie Reichelt and Taylor Higginbotham also average in double figures.

Western attempts more three-pointers per game than anyone in the league (24) and turns the ball over the fewest (12).

Tipoff is 2:00 PM, Saturday afternoon in Brookings.

SDSU split a pair of games last week, winning 61-42 at Fort Wayne, before falling 63-58 at home to South Dakota.
