‘Team Jack’s’ Jack Hoffman Scores a Memorable Touchdown at Nebraska’s Spring Football Game [VIDEO]
It’s not often that people will remember what happened at a spring football game for years to come, but in Lincoln Saturday, something happened during Nebraska’s spring game that will have the more than 60,000 in attendance at Memorial Stadium, and the tens of thousands watching on the Big Ten Network, talking for quite some time.
That unforgettable moment didn’t come from a player whose name and number were in the program, and yet, no one in Lincoln had to be told who seven year old Jack Hoffman was. Jack was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2011, and has undergone a series of operations and cancer treatments in the two years since. During that time, he’s become a sort of unofficial captain for the Nebraska football team, and the leader of ‘Team Jack’.
At the spring game Saturday, Jack took to the field in his own Cornhusker uniform, and brought the crowd to its feet with a 69-yard touchdown scamper.
Move over Johnny Rodgers and Mike Rozier. This was one of the most memorable scoring runs in Nebraska history.
ESPN 99.1′s Jeff Harkness will talk with the ‘Voice of the Cornhuskers’ Greg Sharpe, who called the play, Monday afternoon about the spring game, and Jack’s big moment.
