A routine traffic stop turned into multiple drug charges for a teenager in Sioux Falls Thursday night.

Police pulled over the car with heavily-tinted windows at 8pm Thursday evening near I-229 and Minnesota Avenue. When the officer approached the car, he smelled marijuana. He found a bag of pot in the cup holder which led to a more detailed search.

The search turned up just over a quarter-pound of marijuana, a scale, empty baggies, a marijuana pipe and a loaded .357 handgun.

The subject is in the juvenile detention center facing multiple charges including possession, possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm with the intent to commit a felony and more.
