10-Year-Old South Dakota Boy Dies in Tuesday Morning Crash

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 10 year-old Colton Beld of Bryant was killed in a one-vehicle crash. The incident took place Tuesday morning about 4.5 miles west of Lake Norden.

Colton Beld was a passenger in a 1999 Cadillac Catera driven by his 14-year-old brother, Dillon Beld. The time of the crash was 8:26 AM.

According to reports, the two were driving east on South Dakota Highway 28, when the vehicle left the roadway and rolled. Dillon Beld received minor injuries.

Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt. The Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.

Other agencies assisting at the scene were the Hamlin County Sheriff’s Office, state Game, Fish and Parks Department, Lake Norden Fire and Ambulance, Bryant Fire Department and Hamlin County Coroner.
