The End of Black Friday?

Major Retailers Begin Black Friday Sales Thanksgiving Night

Do you remember when Thanksgiving was meant for family, togetherness, and reciting things that you are thankful for before the turkey was placed on the dining room table?

For us, after the meal, the guys would retire to the living room to watch a little football, while the girls cleared the table and then spread the sales ads from the heavy newspaper out to plan the Black Friday strategy.

Now, the great tradition of Black Friday and the excitement of getting ready for the holidays has invaded Thanksgiving Day itself.

Not only has Black Friday rolled back to Thursday, but it might even interrupt your Thanksgiving dinner.

Walmart said Tuesday that they will hold two major sales events at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. — on Thanksgiving night. And they’re not alone. Toys R Us will open at 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving and Best Buy will open at 6 p.m. while Target will open their doors that 8 p.m.

Macy’s, J.C. Penney and Kohl’s will also open for the first time on Thanksgiving, while Kmart won’t close. They’ll open at 6 a.m. Thanksgiving morning and will stay open for 41 consecutive hours.

So, if you’re planning on scoring some big bargains, eat that Thanksgiving dinner early or maybe take your turkey drumstick to go.

I, along with many families, will wait for Black Friday and reserve Thanksgiving for family, blessings, and late afternoon pumpkin pie.

I just hope the stores will plan ahead and restock for the shoppers who still want to make Black Friday a fun tradition.

Finally, someone posted this on Tumblr this afternoon.
