McCartney Tour: What Sioux Falls Will See When Paul Rolls into Town

When Paul McCartney arrives in Sioux Falls on Monday to perform his first ever concert in South Dakota, there will be several reminders around town that will give the sense that something big is happening.

McCartney’s concert will be one the biggest shows Sioux Falls has ever seen, not only in terms of ticket sales, but it is also physically one of the largest tours to ever play the state of South Dakota.

The McCartney tour consists of:

• More than 30 trucks and busses will carry the gear for the concert
• 4 LED video boards that measures 107 linear feet across the back of the stage
• Two 270-degree angled projection screens facing the audience
• Extensive pyrotechnics, lasers, and smoke machines
• Moving sets built into the stage

The show will last two-and-a-half hours and begins Monday at 8 p.m.

Some of the things Sioux Falls residents will notice are large banners hanging from flag poles outside the Denny Sanford Premier Center.

In honor of McCartney’s appearance in Sioux Falls, a 40-foot banner is being placed at Falls Park. And probably the most spectacular, the falls will be lit up in blue lights on May 1-2 in commemoration of this historic event.

The PREMIER Center is asking area businesses to post messages welcoming Paul McCartney and the tour to Sioux Falls on their marquees, video boards and store windows.
