The Ultimate U.S. Road Trip Will Take You through South Dakota

Some days, don't you just want to jump in the car with your best friend and do a Thelma and Louise road trip (minus all the bad stuff that happened to Thelma and Louise)?

A Michigan State University doctoral student, Randy Olson, took a challenge to map the ultimate road trip across the U.S. According to KnowMore.WashingtonPost.com:

Olson set out to find the quickest driving route that would stop at a national natural landmark, national historic site, national park or national monument in all of the lower 48 states. He also included Washington, D.C. and added another stop in California to get to a total of 50 stops.

The Ultimate U.S. road trip would make stops at the Statue of Liberty, Graceland, the Grand Canyon and even a stop at Mount Rushmore here in South Dakota.

According to Olson, the trip would take approximately 9.33 days of driving, if you didn't sleep, stop or hit traffic.
