The store known for it’s sweet but pricey sunglasses, Oakley is opening a new store in the Empire mall this weekend. The trendy eye wear outlet will also offer eye exams so you can get a prescription pair of shades. (source)
A witness called police on early Thursday morning after seeing a van towing a lawn mower down the road only to have it become unhitched and come to a stop. The riding mower, values at $2,900, was stolen from Campbell’s Supply. The thief has yet to be identified. (source) If the mower had a full tank of gas, the perp could be charged with grand theft…
Cash, soda, and candy, was stolen from the Sherman Park softball concession building after a thief forced entry to the tournament headquarters. They are still taking inventory to determine the value of the heist. (source) I’d be on the lookout for a jittery, rich, sugar-buzzed kid with a few new zits…
Thankfully, no one was injured when a tornado briefly touched down in the small town of Allen, SD. on Tuesday, a violent weather day for much of the state. The town suffered some damage in the EF1 tornado which packs wind speeds between 105 – 110 mph. (source)
Here come the skeeters and ticks. With the amount of rain and the wet conditions creating standing water, be ready for a big increase in the mosquito population. It might be a good time to stock up on bug spray as the skeeters are getting hot and heavy in those ponds. Also, tick season is in full swing and it is recommended by veterinarian’s to have your pets treated for tick prevention.
Police say tires on at least four vehicles were slashed sometime between the evening of May 27 and the morning of May 28 in a neighborhood of southeast Sioux Falls. If you have any information, contact Crimestoppers at 367-7007.
Four people who were reported missing after a weekend boating trip on Lake Superior have been found safe. Authorities say at least some of the boaters are from South Dakota, and the passengers included two boys, ages 12 and 11. (source)
