Rather than running on gas and electricity, like most current hybrid vehicles, This new Peugeot Citroen is powered by air and should be ready for the road by 2016.

Welcome to the "Hybrid Air" engine system, which runs on gas and compressed air. And, for a change, city drivers will benefit the most because air power kicks in automatically at speeds under 43 mph.

By 2020, the company expects it to be capable of getting 117 mpg and estimates a 45 percent savings for most drivers.City drivers could save as much as 80%.

Peugeot has come along way from that moped I owned in 1980.
