I was trying to fall asleep this weekend, and my mind wandered through the random files it feels necessary to store. Why our minds pick certain things to hang on to I'll never understand.

I do understand that the combination of a good commercial jingle, and a somewhat creepy kids toy are destined to be logged for life.

Here are the historical details of My Buddy according to Wikipedia:

The My Buddy doll line was a toy made by Hasbro in 1985 with the intention of making a doll appeal to little boys and teach them about caring for their friends.

I'm not sure which one hit the toy market scene first, Cabbage Patch Kids or My Buddy. But I'll never forget going to my grandma's house, and seeing my cousin completely immersed in My Buddy marketing. My cousin had the doll, and just like the commercial they matched.

After the Chucky horror movies showed up on the scene I think they scared off any kid wanting a My Buddy in their room ever again, but he had a good run. And 20 years later his commercial theme song remains in my brain.

I did find an original My Buddy Doll going for just under $300 on Amazon if you need to relive your childhood buy him here.
