Between raking leaves and doing all the other things you need to do this weekend, hopefully you can sneak in a couple of these fun activities going on in the Sioux Empire.

(October 5-7th) VIKING VARIETIES …An Augustana College variety show part of Viking Days.  Shows Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:15pm, Sunday at 2pm at the Edith Mortenson Center Theater on the Augie campus.  More info at here.

October 6th (Saturday) Viking Days Homecoming Parade. The homecoming parade will begin at 10 am on Saturday, Oct. 6. To accommodate the parade, no parking will be allowed on the parade route effective 6 a.m. until the end of the parade. Here is the parade route:

Summit Ave - From 28th St. to 37th St. 28th St. - From Summit Ave. to Grange Ave.Grange Ave. - From 28th St. to 33rd St. 33rd St- From Summit Ave. to Grange Ave.Prairie Ave. - From 33rd St to 37th St.

 

October 6th (Saturday) Viking Days Homecoming Game. Game kicks off at 1:00pm as Augustana Plays host to Minnesota State at Kirkeby-Over Stadium.  Get ticket info here.

October 6 (Saturday)…RODNEY CARRINGTON…8pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.  Get ticket info at ticketmaster.com

October 6, 7 (Sat, Sun)…SHOWCASE OF REMODELED HOMES…Noon-5pm both days.  Tour 11 remodeled homes in the Sioux Empire.  Admission is $5 and proceeds benefit the Sioux Empire Home Builders Care Foundation.  hbasiouxempire.com Tickets will be available at any of the homes.

October 6 (Saturday)…FESTIVAL OF BANDS…Enjoy 29 marching bands at 8:45am in Downtown Sioux Falls.  Preliminary field competition with 25 bands, gets underway at 10:45am at Howard Wood Field with the finals at 6pm.  (Admission to Howard Wood Field is $8 adults, $5 students, 5 and under free.)

October 6 (Saturday)…NATIONAL PARKINSON FOUNDATION MOVING DAY…A walk to raise awareness of Parkinson’s Disease.  Registration starts at 8:30am at the Western Mall, the walk begins at 10am.  Lunch at 11am.  Get more info at parkinson.org

 

And if all you plan on doing this weekend is rake leaves. Here is the leaf drop off site information for the Sioux Falls area:  

(September 29-November 23)…LEAF DROP OFF SITES OPEN…9am-5pm Monday through Saturday and Noon-5pm on Sundays.  There are 2 leaf and branch drop off sites; on the East side on East Chambers Street by the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and on the West side on North Lyon Blvd west of the Fairgrounds.  ($2 for car, pickup, full-size SUV, van or 2-wheel trailers.  More details at siouxfalls.org
