Between the autumn thunderstorms this weekend, try to take in a few of these fun activities going on in the Sioux Empire:

October 12 (Friday)…SIOUX FALLS STAMPEDE in action. The puck drops at 7:05pm at the Sioux Falls Arena.  The Herd host the Indiana Ice.

October 12 (Friday)...HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL at Howard Wood Field. SF Washington vs Rapid City Stevens at 5pm.  SF Lincoln vs Brookings at 8pm.

October 12 (Friday)...BRAS FOR A CAUSE at  Wiley’s Tavern in downtown Sioux Falls.  They'll be door prizes, wine and cheese tasting, live music at 9pm and more.  See wild and wacky bras created for the event and vote for your favorite between 4-7:30pm.  Proceeds will benefit the Avera Cancer Institute.

October 13 (Saturday)KIDS’ COSTUME SWAP. Looking for an easy and affordable way to get Halloween costumes for the kids?  Siouxland Libraries, Main Branch, will be holding a costume swap. Customers with donation tickets can shop from 9-10am and all others can shop from 10-11am.  The Swap takes place at 200 North Dakota Ave.

October 13 (Saturday)SIOUX FALLS ROLLER DOLLZ. Doors open at 6pm at the Sioux Falls Coliseum at 5th and Main and they roll at 7pm.  The Dollz take on the Fargo Rock Riot.  The first ever Women vs Men Roller Derby showdown in Sioux Falls.  Proceeds benefit the Edith Sanford Breast Cancer Foundation.

October 13 (Saturday)HABITAT HOME RUN 5K AND 1 MILE FAMILY WALK. Event starts at 10am at Sertoma Park.  Proceeds will benefit future Habitat for Humanity builds.  (605-332-5962 $20 through 10/12 and $25 day of event.

October 13 (Saturday)PAINT THE MALL PINK from 10am-2pm at the Empire Mall.  Create awareness of Breast Cancer and show your support.  Various Mall retailers and community vendors will be on site, a survivor fashion show and the City of Sioux Falls will debut their painted plows.

October 13, 14 (Sat, Sun)PUMPKIN FESTIVAL. 10am-5pm Saturday and Noon-5pm Sunday at Country Apple Orchard, 5 miles south of Sioux Falls on Minnesota Avenue.  Enjoy horse-drawn hayrides to the pumpkin patches, pony rides, food, inflatables, train rides, face painting, children’s barn and more.

October 14 (Sunday)WOOFSTOCK.  A fun and free dog festival from 1-4pm at Spencer Dog Park.  Events include a dog costume contest, music, agility course, vendor area and more.

Now-November 23LEAF DROP OFF SITES OPEN…9am-5pm Monday through Saturday and Noon-5pm on Sundays.  There are 2 leaf and branch drop off sites; on the East side on East Chambers Street by the Household Hazardous Waste Facility and on the West side on North Lyon Blvd west of the Fairgrounds.  $2.00 per car, pickup, full-size SUV, van or 2-wheel trailers
