Sioux Falls Police Department Public Information Officer Sam Clemens says three boys were caught damaging a house in the west part of the city.

"A neighboring business knew that this house was vacant. They saw some kids up on the roof and called the owner. The owner found the kids as they were spraying water through the back door into the house. They took off running when he arrived."

Clemens says the damages could be up to several thousand dollars.

"They had dumped out some stain onto the ground. They broke walls, damaged light fixtures - really just made a mess of things. We ended up finding the kids because two of them left their bikes behind and came back later to try to get them. We were able to identify all of them. We had a 9 year old, 10 year old and 11 year old."

Clemens says charge may be forthcoming for the 10 and 11 year old boys.

The three boys were turned over to their parents.
