A fire in the western part of the city brought Sioux Falls Fire Rescue crews out around 9:30pm Tuesday to a modular home in the 7000 block of West 14th Place.

First crews on the scene found smoke and flames coming from the roof.

The resident, who had been alerted by a passerby, got out safely with his dog, and another dog was rescued when firefighters opened a bedroom door.

The fire was under control in approximately 40 minutes, but the attic space and roof had heavy fire damage.

No one was injured and the cause is under investigation.
