Sioux Falls police responded to a shooting in western Sioux Falls around 4:00 PM on Friday, February 26, 2016.

The incident took place in the 9400 block of West Karmya Circle.

According to initial reports two people have reportedly been shot outside an apartment building near the Tea Ellis Road. The perpetrator was among them, the other victim is supposedly a 30-year-old woman.

Sioux Falls police say the man shot the woman, then turned the gun on himself. It is not immediately known how the two are related.

The extent of their injuries isn't known at this time, but two ambulances were seen driving from the scene with lights and sirens on.

Sgt. Sean Kooistra delivered a brief statement at the scene indicating that the two were still alive when they left the scene. "(Emergency crews) are going to try to work on them and try to help them out."

Kooistra also conveys the need to go deep for facts in this case. "We don't live here. We weren't here when it happened. We are canvassing the neighborhood to see if any witnesses can tell us more. At this moment we don't believe anyone else is in danger and the two parties here were the only ones involved."

More details as they become available.
