An attempt at an illegal pass and a single vehicle rollover were both deadly. Two lives were claimed on opposite ends of the state as a result.

Near Rapid City on Saturday afternoon, a man died at the scene of a motorcycle-pickup crash. According to the Department of Public Safety, the man who was driving a 2002 Harley Davidson tried to pass a van in a no passing zone on Nemo Road.

The 37-year old man collided with a pickup truck during the pass attempt and was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene. Neither the 62-year old man nor 15-year old girl in the 2002 Ford F350 pickup were injured.

Near Madison on Sunday, a man alone in a 1997 Ford F150 died in a rollover accident. It happened on a gravel road 10 miles north and just east of Highway 81.

The Department of Public Safety says the 85-year old driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle came to rest on its top. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The names of the people involved in both accidents have yet to be released pending notification of families.
