The University of North Dakota Fighting Hawks hockey teams has captured their eighth National Championship with a 5-1 win over Quinnipiac.

The Frozen Four was played in Tampa and it concluded with a great performance from North Dakota who rallied throughout the game where the calls really seemed to go Quinnipiac's way early.

Cam Johnson in goal was amazing as well, fighting off countless power plays and only giving up one goal for the Fighting Hawks.

Shane Gersich, Brock Boeser, Austin Poganski all scored goals for UND on Saturday and Drake Caggiula had two goals and just missed a couple opportunities to get a hat trick.

This is the first title for UND since 2000 and its the first title for first year head coach Brad Berry who took over Dave Hakstol who went off to coach in the NHL last year.

So many great teams have stepped onto the ice for UND and since 2000, none of those great teams captured a National Championship, but this team did and what a legacy they will leave!
