Google was invented to answer your most burning questions, like "Why does Nebraska smell?" and "Why does Florida suck?".  Those might not be questions you ask on a daily basis, but they must be asked a lot, because Google takes note of each search inquiry and then will autocomplete your sentence with popular options.

When you start to type "Why does Nebraska...", Google will complete your sentence with "smell." The gang at Mental Floss thought it would be funny to see what autocomplete Google spits out when you type in "Why does (state)."

Here are some of the results.

Why does North Dakota exist?

Why does Iowa vote first?

Why does Montana hate the F.B.I.?

Why does Pennsylvania vote democrat?

And, I know you're dying to know what Google's autocomplete comes up with when you type in South Dakota. [Drum roll please] "Why does South Dakota...have low unemployment?"

You can see the rest of the state's autocomplete questions here.
