Cinemark owns the two 'first run' theatres in Sioux Falls, on South Carolyn Avenue and at Dawley Farms. As part of their nationwide upgrades, Century Theatre on Carolyn Avenue spent most of the summer under construction in one of the existing rooms turning it into a state of the art XD experience and after enjoying it last night, I'd say it was more than worth the wait!

My wife and I had invitations to a special screening of 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' along with the construction crew that worked so hard on the upgrade, other media and special interest groups and even a member of the Sioux Falls City Council.

The theatre has a new wall to wall, floor to ceiling screen that is brighter and more crisp than a traditional screen. The surround sound was amazing for not only the dialogue but for the ambient sounds, and as a large man (6'4") it was VERY nice to have new comfortable seats and LEG ROOM!

The movie was 3D so we got the glasses at the counter as we entered, found seats halfway up the rise and settled in with our buttered popcorn and pop. My wife and I whispered several times during the movie how great the picture was, how fantastic it sounded, and the fact that I didn't have to get up and stand in the aisle to let the constant flow of people out was a huge plus.

If you're a movie fan who is looking for the full movie experience, check out the new XD theatre at Cinemark's Century Theatre on South Carolyn Avenue.

As for the movie? We liked it! I've always had a thing for those damn dirty apes.
