After work the other night, I came home to find three police cars in the driveway of my apartment complex. No red lights, no sirens, just three squad cars, two with their trunk open. Naturally, I'm concerned about what's happening in my usually quiet little complex. I didn't want to be a looky-loo, so I casually pulled into my garage and went inside.

Like most humans,  I was curious what my neighbor had done. Of course, it's none of my business, except for the fact it's happening on my turf, therefore it makes it my business.

I did a little research online.  I googled "Sioux Falls Police Call Log." There IS such a thing on the internet! It's under the City of Sioux Falls Police Department. It's a list of calls for service to the Sioux Falls Police Department within the past 30 days.

The Sioux Falls PD is busy! There were nearly 7,600 police calls in 30 days, and that's not even all of them! The list does not include all calls for service for the Police Department.

Types of calls included car accidents, assaults, well-being checks, shoplifting, larceny, 911 hang ups, runaway, protection order violations, prostitution and many, many more.

The list shows the most recent calls first.  You can also search address or incident number. I typed in my street name to see what's been goin' down in my hood and within the past 30 days there's been an assault (with arrest) and a larceny call.  Not bad for 30 days, I guess.

Sort by "Call Type." You won't believe all the 911 hang ups in 30 days (which police have to respond to).

It was very interesting looking up street names that my friends and family live on to see what type of criminal activity is taking place in their neck of the woods.

Sioux Falls is getting bigger. The call log is just going to get longer.
