Fans of the reality TV show 'The Voice' know that the judges are always reminding the contestants to make the cover songs they are singing "their own."  I guess they like to 'practice what they preach', because that is exactly what one former judge of 'The Voice' has done.

Taking his own advice, R&B superstar Usher did his own version of Blake Shelton's 'Neon Light' at the United Way of Dallas' 90th Anniversary Celebration.  Turning Shelton's upbeat 'Neon Light' into a smooth, soul ballad, Usher then asked the audience of about 20,000 people at the Celebration how he did.

It doesn’t matter if it’s country or R&B music, an emotion is an emotion, right?

Blake Shelton and Usher did team up during the Celebration for a duet that many might consider as an 'unusual  pairing' on Shelton's hit "Home".

Blake Shelton is one of two original judges from 'The Voice'.  Usher was a judge during seasons four and six.  Season 8 of 'The Voice' begins airing on KDLT on Monday, February 8, 2015 with judges Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Pharrell Williams and Christina Aguilera.
