Weekend Poker Run Fundraiser Helps Send Children Living With Diabetes To Summer Camp

We first became aware of the amazing Camp Gilbert because of our work with Parrotheads of the Prairie and their wonderful community service projects. Camp Gilbert is a summer camp for children, ages 8 to 18 living with diabetes. The kids get to swim, canoe, do crafts, play games and gather around the campfire to sing and make lifelong friends.

Camp Gilbert is also about kids learning and they cover subjects from nutrition & exercise to lifestyle management. High school campers have the opportunity to participate in a special leadership program. All of these activities go on with complete medical supervision and assistance around the clock. And the camp is largely staffed by volunteers, so gifts of time and talent along with financial gifts are always needed and appreciated.

This is where this Saturday's (May 17th) Poker Run Fundraiser comes in! All vehicles are welcome, you start and finish at J & L Harley Davidson, registration is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the cost is $15 per card, (with a guaranteed $250.00 1st prize) and you must return to J & L by 4 p.m. For info about the Poker Run call Ken Klinger at 605-351-0027.
