Crews have been working from sun up to sun down to get the Brandon, South Dakota speedway ready for this Sunday’s race featuring the Dollar Loan Center Outlaw Sprints.

Sunday’s race is on as scheduled, but it has been a tough week. Record-setting rainfall pushed the nearby Split Rock Creek into the “extreme flood” category twice this week. The water filled the speedway and raged through the parking lot. However, the creek is into its banks and the Huset’s crew was able to get onto the speedway and parts of the infield Thursday night.

Huset’s owner Steve Rubin stated,

People think we’re done. People think we’re not racing. They thought the same thing in ’93 and we raced the next Sunday. We’re racing this Sunday, too.

Huset’s management is now looking at adjusting the season’s schedule to add events to make up for the five that have already been lost to rain.

Sunday’s race starts at 7 p.m. Joining the Outlaw Sprints will be the Coffee Cup Fuel Stop Championship Sprints, Bolte’s Street Stocks, B-Modifieds and Hobby Stocks.

Fans are encouraged to use their rain checks from the previous rain out. Crew members and drivers must have their arm band from the previous rain out to have a free admission to the infield.
