With the Kentucky Derby going on this weekend it got me wondering whatever happened to triple crown winner American Pharoah?

Back in 2015 American Pharoah won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes all in the same year - winning the Triple Crown of horse racing. He became only the 12th horse in history to win all three prestigious races. The last time it happened was in 1978 when Affirmed won the Triple Crown.

Well, I found out American Pharoah now wakes up each morning in pony paradise, also known as Coolmore. It's a 2,000 acre stud ranch in the middle of Kentucky.

Since arriving at the ranch two days after winning his final race American Pharoah has been busy impregnating mares at a stud fee of $200,000 per session.

So if my math is correct - at an average yearly rate of 175 breeding sessions, at $200,000 a pop, that translates into $35 million a year.

Not a bad way to spend your retirement years, huh?
