Cup of Coffee

Expensive cup of joe/Patty Dee[/caption]You see that cup of coffee? It cost me $4.23, seventeen minutes in a drive-up window line and a large quotient of my self-respect.

I had loaded up my laundry and was heading to the laundromat when the thought occurred to me that I hadn't brought along any coffee to sip on. A quick trip through a 'well-known' coffee place (for which I gratefully had received a Christmas gift card) and I'd be on my way.

Ha!

When I pulled into the line I thought "Wow, that is a pretty long line. Maybe this was an error!"

But then the line moved, so I stayed, thinking "Oh, how long could this take?" So I checked the time, simply to keep track.

Why we don't listen to our gut instinct, or common sense when it is screaming at us I just don't understand. I could have gotten out of line, run home and started brewing an entire pot of coffee for about five cents in the 17 minutes it me took to get to the order window. But did I? No.

And neither did all the idiots in front of and behind me.

What is wrong with us?!!
