What Was ‘Gotcha Days’ and How Did It Help Animals in Sioux Falls?

Here's a cool story, nearly 200 fur babies in the Sioux Empire found new homes this month thanks to a joint effort between the Sioux Falls Humane Society and the BISSELL Pet Foundation.

If you're not familiar with The BISSELL Pet Foundation, they are a nationwide animal welfare organization whose sole purpose is to end pet homelessness.

As Dakota News Now reports, BISSELL teamed up with more than 345 different animal shelters from October 1-15th for a program designed to help empty animal shelters across the nation.

So many animal shelters are facing critical capacity right now throughout the country. That's why the folks with the BISSELL Foundation teamed up with local shelters to allow them to reduce pet adoption fees over the two-week period.

The Empty Animal Shelters event allowed adopters to pay no more than $50.00 and local license fees to bring a new fur baby into their homes.

According to Dakota News Now, they called the program "Gotcha Days" in Sioux Falls, and it was an overwhelming success. 191 different animals found new homes here in the Sioux Empire during this year's event.

Remember, the Sioux Falls Humane Society is always taking in abandoned, abused, homeless, and unwanted animals that need a new home and someone to love them.

Their mission is to be a safe haven and a human voice for all animals in need.
