It's not nice to fool Mother Nature.

If you are walking around the planet and are of a, uh, certain age, you remember those words coming out of your television. And you're probably thinking 'I don't know, it was some sort of margarine'.

And you'd be right. But while the commercials still hang around in your brain, the margarine doesn't hang around the grocery stores anymore. At least not around here.

Chiffon.

You remember Chiffon margarine, right? It was a huge seller for a long time (but apparently not long enough).

First manufactured back in the 1950's, Chiffon pretty much introduced us to soft, tub-style margarine. And while it was a success in the 1960's, 70's and 80's, it changed hands many times as far as ownership. From Anderson, Clayton and Company to Kraft to Nabisco to Con-Agra.

And then 'poof', about 2002 or so it was gone! Well, mostly.

Apparently Chiffon margarine can still be purchased in the Caribbean region. But that's a long way to go for a margarine memory.

But back to the commercial that has become iconic.

It ran in the 1970's and 1980's. Dena Dietrich played Mother Nature and she wasn't happy when she found out that what she thought was her delicious butter was actually Chiffon margarine.
