Sioux Falls has made a lot of 'top cities' lists, going all the way back the Money magazine ranking us as the top place to live in the United States in 1992.

When it comes to beauty though, we didn't make the cut again this year when Budget Travel named its '25 Most Beautiful Cities in America'.

So exactly how far do we have to go to get to one of those pretty places? 434 miles to be exact. That's how far the closest city on the beauty lost is - Madison, Wisconsin.

This city of 245,000 has a lot going for it. Not only is it the State Capital and the home of the University of Wisconsin, but it also features some stunning shoreline along lakes Mendota, Monona, and Waubesa.

If you're more interested in adjacency than distance, Jackson, Wyoming is the only city to make the beautiful list that lies in one of South Dakota's neighboring states.

Jackson (population 9,500) is perhaps one of the most picturesque places on the list, thanks to its proximity to the Teton and Gros Ventre mountain ranges.

You'll travel twice as far as Madison to get there (875 miles), but it's well worth the trip!

The other 'beautiful cities':
