Who Was Named the ‘Sexiest Man Alive’?

One of People magazine's most-anticipated issues each year, featuring the 'Sexiest Man Alive,' announced its featured celebrity cover model today. It's Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson!

The former wrestler and now A-list actor lands the title of the sexiest guy on the planet for the year 2016.

Johnson, 44, rose to fame with his professional wrestling career in the WWE from 1996-2004. After taking a break from the ring, he went back part time from 2011-2013.

His first leading film role was in 2002's 'The Scorpion King.' Johnson has had an impressive career since, starring in major productions such as Walking Tall, The Tooth Fairy, The Game Plan, San Andreas and the four most-recent films in the Fast and the Furious franchise. The list of his credits goes on and on.

People first debuted their list of the world's sexiest men in 1985 with Mel Gibson landing the cover. Since then, some of Hollywoods biggest stars like George Clooney, Johnny Depp, Brad Pitt, David Beckham and Richard Gere have received the honor.

Johnson has a Disney animated film on the way, entitled Moana, which comes to theaters Thanksgiving day.
