Aspiring entrepreneurs work hard and work smart. They commit to what they want to do and turn ideas into businesses. Sioux Falls is home to many small business owners who did just that.

For example, Melissa Johnson who owns Oh My Cupcakes!. She started out baking cupcakes in her kitchen for small parties and events with the dream of one day having her own store front. Today, Cupcake Mel and her cupcake ninjas make hundreds of cupcakes daily in two locations in Sioux Falls, the Empire Mall and in the Bridges at 57th.

Cupcake Mel is just one of the many, many small business owners in Sioux Falls who had a dream and worked hard for it to become a reality.  Car dealers, photographers, restaurants, cell phone stores, and several other local businesses had the motivation and succeeded.

Wallet Hub analyzed  the relative start-up opportunities that exist in the 150 most populated U.S. cities to determine the best cities to start a business and Sioux Falls, South Dakota placed #6 on their list.

The report looked at how accessible the cities are to office space, potential employees and financing opportunities. Plus, it also looked at workplace environmental factors, like the average length of a workday and cost of living, to find which cities are best for a new business.
