I was going through my 'Big Book of Stuff' the other day and noticed that the month of March has been proclaimed National 'Employee Spirit Month' - and it couldn't come at a better time, in my opinion!

Let's face it, by the time March rolls around everyone is pretty much sick and tired of dealing with winter.  I don't know about you, but I can't wait for spring to arrive.  I'm chomping at the bit to get back out on the golf course and throw my leg over the motorcycle.

I can't image what it must be like for a manager of people this time of the year.  Here in our workplace, everyone seems to be walking around in a daze.  We smile and say "good morning" to one another, but I know deep down inside we would all rather be waking up on a white, sandy beach somewhere.

Having never served as a boss, it can't speak from experience, but it can't be easy finding ways to motivate employees between the holidays and when Spring arrives.  Given the fact though that March is 'Employee Spirit Month,' maybe it would be a good time to hold an old-fashioned pep rally.

Gather everyone together in the break room and hold a beach party.  Maybe have some burgers and brats catered in.  Perhaps there's someone in the office who wouldn't mind decorating the place with a few streamers and balloons, making it look like one of those all-inclusive resorts down in Mexico - just an idea.

I think you see where I'm headed with this.  We ALL need to look for fun and unique ways to brighten up the office while we still have snow on the ground.  In this day-in-age of more and more being expected of workers, a little 'Employee Spirit' pat-on-the-back could go a long ways in boosting the mood of everyone in the office!
