Last we heard, Warner Bros. hadn’t yet officially given the Wonder Woman solo film the green light, which wasn’t entirely surprising given that a script wasn’t firmly in place. But today brings good news on the Wonder Woman front: shooting will begin this fall for the hero’s upcoming solo adventure, with — as previously confirmed — Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad vet Michelle MacLaren in the director’s chair.

In an unrelated casting story over at Deadline, the trade reports that filming for Wonder Woman will begin later this year, with Gal Gadot in the leading role. Gadot will make her first appearance as the hero in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 before moving onto her solo film, which is set for release in 2017. The actress will then reprise the part for the first Justice League film, hitting theaters later in 2017.

MacLaren will direct from a script by Pan screenwriter Jason Fuchs, marking the director’s second feature film effort (she previously directed the 2006 low budget thriller Population 436). MacLaren also recently helmed the second episode of AMC’s Better Call Saul, the Breaking Bad spinoff focusing on Walter White’s lawyer, Saul Goodman.

WB is reportedly planning for a Wonder Woman trilogy, with the first film set in the 1920s on Paradise Island, the home of Themyscira/Diana Prince and the Amazons. When a mysterious stranger arrives asking for her help, our hero follows him to our world, where Wonder Woman finds herself disappointed by the vast gender inequality. The second film would follow Wonder Woman during World War II, in the ‘30s and ‘40s, while a third film would move her to present day with the Justice League.

It’s also been reported that Batman v Superman will explain Wonder Woman’s origins, which seems a bit redundant with the solo film also addressing her beginnings.

We’ll see Wonder Woman make her debut when Batman v Superman hits theaters on March 25, 2016. The Wonder Woman solo film is set for release on June 23, 2017, with the first Justice League film arriving on November 10, 2017.
