Work Scheduled This Summer on I-29 Interchanges in Sioux Falls

Earlier we told you about construction projects at 10th & Sycamore and on West Russell Street in Sioux Falls, but there will be more.

Work begins on Tuesday, April 15 on the bridges (the State Department of Transportation calls them structures) on the I-29 interchange over West Madison Street.

The DOT says crews will work on structure repair, epoxy chip seal, approach pavement removal and replacement and concrete pavement repair.

They will work on northbound and southbound structures simultaneously, so traffic will be cut to two lanes in each direction, with speed limits reduced from 65 to 55.

And this isn't all. When the work is finished at Madison Street in mid-July, the contractor will move north to the Benson Road interchange to finish up some work that was done last year.

It's all going to mean traffic delays, construction equipment, workers and suddenly slowing or merging traffic.

Remember: speeding fines are doubled in construction zones, so don't speed!

The DOT says it's a $1.8 million project that's slated for completion at the end of August.
