When you work more than eight hours a day you begin to suffer from frustration and lack of a social life. But did you know overtime can actually kill you?

Researchers from the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health looked at 12 studies, going back to 1958, which tracked the number of hours a person worked and their cardiovascular health. In total, more than 22,000 people in seven countries were examined and the scientists discovered that folks who work more than the typical eight-hour day were between 40 and 80 percent more likely to develop heart disease.

"There are several potential mechanisms that may underlie the association between long working hours and heart disease," explained Dr. Marianna Virtanen, who headed the study. "One is prolonged exposure to psychological stress. Other triggers could be raised levels of the stress hormone cortisol, poor eating habits and lack of physical activity due to restricted leisure time."

Just something you can pass along to your boss/murderer the next time he asks you to work late.
