Hey, did you know there is an election Tuesday April 14, 2015 in Sioux Falls? Yes there is. And yes, you need to vote, especially if you have kids in Sioux Falls Public Schools.

For this election the Sioux Falls School Board is filling two vacancies. Also included on the ballot is a school start date referendum. This referendum asks whether to hold the opening day of school before or after Labor Day in the years 2015, 2016, and 2017.

There will be 13 Vote Centers throughout the Sioux Falls School District.  Voters can cast their vote at any of the Vote Centers. Vote Centers will be open from 7:00 AM until 7:00 PM.

Here's where to go:

Incumbent board members Todd Thoelke and Kate Parker and challenger Randy Dobberpuhl are all running for the two open seats.

Also on the ballot is the school start date question, here is the explanation from the ballot.

A YES vote would uphold the Board's
decision to schedule the next three
school years' opening days on August
17, 2015; August 22, 2016; and August
21, 2017.

A NO vote would reject the School
Board's decision to schedule the next
three school years' opening days on
August 17, 2015;  August 22, 2016;
and  August 21, 2017, and would
require the School Board to set an
opening day after Labor Day for each
of the 2015, 2016, and 2017 school
years.
