One of my favorite songs right now is Grace feat. G-Eazy, "You Don't Own Me."

However, this song was already familiar to me and may be familiar to you as well because it is a cover.

The original was done by Lesley Gore in 1963. Gore recorded the song when she was only 17 years old. The song made it all the way to #2 on the Billboard Pop Singles Chart, but couldn't overtake The Beatles.

The new version is done by Australian singer, Grace. Rapper G-Eazy is featured in the song and one of the producers is Quincy Jones who actually produced the original as well. Crazy, right?

But even before I knew Lesley Gore sang the original, I had heard this song in one my favorite musical moments in movies! When Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton sing it in The First Wives Club. Epic!

But of course, Grace put her own modern spin on it and I can totally dig this new version as well. Plus, the song is being used in the Suicide Squad promos so get ready for it to blow up.
