Grab your camera and a jacket. A spectacular Northern Lights viewing window is open right now for North America. A geomagnetic storm will make aurora borealis activity visible farther south that usual.

Peak viewing began in South Dakota late Wednesday night and Early Thursday morning. The National Weather Service Office in Sioux Falls says that we'll get another chance late Thursday night into Friday morning. With prime viewing chances right around and after midnight.

"Remember, you'll want to get away from light pollution, with the northern lights presenting themselves very low on the northern horizon," The NWS said.
