Every now and then South Dakota makes national news for something. Ten years ago it was for a Rock n Roll Hall of Famer going down for the count.

August 6, 2009 was the day, or actually the night, when Aerosmith front man Steven Tyler fell off the stage at the Buffalo Chip and broke his shoulder and ended up with a few stitches in his head.

It was only about half way through the show and it was called off, which was a huge bummer for the throngs of people who came to the show. It was not made up.

The accident occurred during "Love In an Elevator." To make a lame pun, Tyler was living it up while he was going down? Tyler was airlifted to a hospital and later went back to Boston.

The rest of the band did the same. Joe Perry stopped in Sioux Falls on his way back to chat at our classic rock station down the hall. No one told me about it until after he had left. I was furious. Joe Perry was one of my guitar heroes growing up and to this day nothing is cooler than Joe Perry. And I missed my chance to meet him without paying for an expensive meet-n-greet. Oh, well!
