The city of Hot Springs is about to get a little "hotter" later this week, and it will have absolutely nothing to do with the South Dakota summer weather.

KSFY TV is reporting the 2017 Miss South Dakota Pageant is slated to happen June 15-17 at the Mueller Center in Hot Springs.

To help kickoff pageant week, the 16 different contestants visited Mt. Rushmore for a photo and autograph session on Monday (June 12).

A number of different events are planned over the three-day period, including a parade through downtown Hot Springs on Saturday morning (June 17) starting at 10:00 AM.

Tickets are still available for this year's pageant. They can be purchased online or by calling (605) 745-5224.

Voting is still underway for The People’s Choice at the pageant. In addition to competing in the pageant finals, the winner will also receive a $500 People's Choice Scholarship.

All the proceeds from the People's Choice voting process benefit the pageant scholarship fund.

The woman, who is crowned Miss South Dakota for 2017-2018 on Saturday night, will compete at the Miss America Pageant in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

KSFY TV will air the Miss America Pageant on Sunday, September 10.
