To celebrate Little Red Wagon Day, I thought it would be fun to share a short story about my red wagon growing up.  It helped me fall asleep.  Literally.

When we were 3-years-old, my twin sister and I were having a few small surgeries.  We needed tubes in our ears, and Katie was also getting her tonsils removed.  During preparation for these surgeries, a nurse gave us each a little anesthetic to help us fall asleep.  While the anesthetic was kicking in, the nurses pulled us around in little red wagons.  Katie was asleep as soon as the wagon started moving.  On the other hand, that certainly wasn't the case for me.  Instead of sleeping, I was singing!

For about 30 minutes, I was singing "bumping up and down in my little red wagon" throughout the surgical floor!  My poor parents were so confused that they started laughing! My surgeon came around and even asked if I was given the anesthetic.  Needless to say, he was shocked when he saw me singing instead of napping.

I eventually had my tonsils removed in 2004. In preparation for that surgery, my surgeon remembered I needed more than a local anesthetic.  He cut right to the chase and gave me laughing gas.

I know this is a silly story.  However, with everything going on in the world, I wanted to share a memory that would make you laugh and brighten your day. Laughter is the best medicine in any unfortunate situation.
