Three passengers on board the Avera Hospital medical helicopter received a scare late Thursday night due to a mechanical problem with the aircraft.

KDLT TV is reporting the incident occurred on Thursday, (January 26) around 9:45 PM.

According to reports, the helicopter experienced engine failure, forcing the aircraft to make an emergency landing on the south end of the Sioux Falls regional airport. The reason for the failure is not known at this time.

The three people on board received no injuries as a result of the emergency landing.
