French fries are the most common food ordered in Sioux Falls restaurants. A study shows nearly 25 percent of meals ordered overall included french fries.

Before you dip another one in your ketchup, please be aware of something. They may be called French, but they really aren't.

The history of these fried potatoes leads back to Belgium. Researchers have traced them all the way back to the 1600's.

To be safe, at our house we just call them fries. When I was little we referred to them as shoestrings.

I'm not sure what would happen if I were to order my next meal at a restaurant by saying, "I have a cheeseburger and shoestrings."

The king of the fry world is McDonald's. They buy such a large amount of potatoes, that they actually dictate what types of potatoes are grown in the U.S.
