The Denver Broncos will be able to keep their best defensive player for at least another season after using the franchise tag on him.

Outside linebacker Von Miller will get the average salary of the top five paid players at his position or 120 percent of the franchise tag which is around $16.92 million unless a deal is done by July 15.

Miller is one of the best pass rushers in the NFL and with free agency starting next week many teams eyed him as a potential signing if Denver didn't get a deal done.

The exclusive tag guarantees that no other team can try to sign Miller but also gives Denver more time to workout a long term deal. A deal that will more than likely exceed Justin Houston's recent $101 million contract.

Miller was the Super Bowl 50 MVP with 2.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles against the Carolina Panthers. He had 11 sacks, 35 tackles and forced 4 fumbles during the regular season.
